If you ask any New York City resident what they think of when you say the word Foxwoods, family friendly is not the first thing that pops into their mind. Located less than 3 hours from the heart of the city, Foxwoods Resorts Casino has been a great weekend getaway option for New York couples and singles since it opened in 1986. However, Foxwoods has some pretty incredible options for the whole family. Here are the top 3 features at Foxwoods that may make you think of it for your next family getaway.
1. Family Friendly Shows & Entertainment
Foxwoods has been known for hosting and producing great shows with HUGE names such as Bob Dylan, Jerry Seinfeld, and even Rihanna. Foxwoods has recently added family friendly shows such as the Saloon show by Cirque Eloize to the roster. It is a musical western themed contemporary circus show perfect for a night out with the kids.
2. Affordable Packages
As a parent, affordability & simplicity in planning is always going to win me over when figuring out a trip for my family. Foxwoods has done this by putting together hotel packages that include activities such as visits to the Mystic Aquarium, the Mashantucket Museum, the Mystic Seaport Museum, as well as including vouchers for their Treehouse Arcade. They top it all off by also offering food and drink voucher for each family member, (up to $15 with the Foxwoods Family Package). This makes it easy to focus less on the cost of each activity and more on just having fun.
3. Social Media Engagement and Giveaways
There is no getting around it, social media is part of everyday life. Companies can either embrace it or basically cease to exist. Foxwoods completely understands this and are SUPER engaged on their social media platform especially Twitter. They are able to address concerns and inquiries in real time to ensure that their current and potential guests are always satisfied. In addition, they run giveaways that can be entered via their social media channels by simply tagging and tweeting them photos that you may take during your visit. This is a great way to get the teenagers in your family who are glued to their phones in the competitive spirit with the goal of being a grand winner.
It is for all of these reasons, that I am excited to be visiting Foxwoods this week with my family. I will be sharing the entire experience with you, so be sure to follow me on Twitter @itsmeladygnyc, Instagram @itsmeladyg, and also on Facebook www.facebook.com/itsmeladyg to get real time coverage. See you soon!
