3 Non-Toxic & Organic Toys For Babies Under 1 (Holiday Gift Guide)

It’s that time of the year where we start scrambling for gifts perfect for our loved ones. Of course, our littlest loves are both the simplest but most difficult to shop for. Simple because they would probably just love the box and the wrapping paper that the real present comes in. Difficult because we naturally want to only buy the best for them.

However, this is definitely made more difficult by the ridiculous amounts of toy and feature options. To weed through all that noise, I’ve decided to prioritize the ones that are most important and in line with my beliefs and lifestyle.

Being that my daughter is 7 months, I need toys that are easy to wash, soft to avoid her hurting herself while swinging it around, and preferably made with organic cotton if possible since EVERYTHING goes in her mouth nowadays.

I’ve also made it a point not to buy too many toys as I did with my older son. To be honest, he just ended up with toys he didn’t play with because he picked his handful of favorites and just looked at the rest as they sat at the bottom of a toy box. Then we parents are left with figuring out how to get rid of the toys when they are over them.

So, I would tell new parents to save your money and just buy a couple great but varied toys and let the baby enjoy them as much as possible.

Here are a couple I would recommend:

Under The Nile Veggie Crate

Anyone that knows me would not be surprised at this pick. This super cute veggie line up is a great way to familiarize your little one with foods they will (hopefully) be introduced to in the near future. This set, (and all the items in the Under The Nile line in fact), are made with Organic Cotton so there’s no reason to worry about potentially harmful pesticides getting in your little one’s mouth or skin while they are playing with it.

What I all like is the fact that the veggies have faces BUT they don’t have little buttons or raised pieces that can be a potential choking hazard. Lastly, they are soft and wash well. These have definitely been a hit in our house. Click here to check it out.

Finn & Emma Rattle Buddies

I don’t think I’ve yet to find a baby that doesn’t love a rattle. It’s the noise that keeps them swinging it from side to side with reckless abandon, even if it means bopping themselves in the face a time or two. This is why I was pretty selective with the types of rattles I let my kids have.

Thankfully, I came across the line of Finn & Emma Rattle Buddies. They are made from organic cotton and are easy for little hands to grab. The cute animal designs are fun and keep them interested. Click here to check them out.

ThinkMax Wrist & Feet Rattle Set

This set was a must have as soon as I saw it. Yes, it checked off all of my requirements, (affordable, washable, and no small pieces), except for one (being organic or specifically stated non-toxic materials), but let’s get real. There are few people that are able to check all these boxes for every toy that crosses their kid’s path. That’s what this blog is about, finding a balance.

However, being that they are made of fabric, they can easily be washed several times BEFORE giving them to your little one to get off the surface level funky stuff it might’ve picked up while in production and shipping. Or at least that’s what I did.

My little one loves this set. Of course, they all end up being in her mouth,(HELLO teething, ugh), but she loves trying to figure out how to get them off her arms and feet. And at this incredible price, it’s a really great deal. Click here to check it out.

This short and sweet guide was made not to overwhelm by keeping the picks to a minimum. I will be sharing others in the new year, but these have especially been a hit so far. Let me know if you pick them up. Happy Holidays.
