Over the last couple of years, I’ve started shaking up my kitchen routine. I started buying aprons to wear when cooking. I used to think it was silly but it’s really helped me get in the mood to cook.
Through my research, I came across the pro kitchen brand Hedley & Bennett. And while it took me a minute to take the leap, I have come to love the brand and their products.
Hedley & Bennett aprons have gained their own following within the cooking world. Hedley & Bennett aprons can be seen on the chefs on Top Chef, Food Network, Bon Appetit, and several other celebrity chefs.
But Hedley & Bennett aprons are admittedly not the cheapest on the market. Many people wonder if they are worth the money.
As someone who’s been using Hedley & Bennett aprons for several months, I can confidently say that they absolutely are!
Are Hedley & Bennett Aprons Worth It?
The simplest way to answer this is start with whether or not you are in the kitchen often. While most people are not professionally trained chefs, most of us cook at home on occasion. The last couple of years have seen the largest uptick of home chefs than ever before.
In my video below. I shared how wearing aprons helps me get in the mental state to cook. There’s something magical about putting that apron on that gets the adrenaline going.
So, for someone who loves to cook, these aprons are absolutely worth it. It’s a splurge worth making for the dedicated home chef. There’s good reason why the Hedley & Bennett Aprons keep landing on everyone’s best apron list.
Here are 3 Reasons Why Hedley & Bennett Aprons Are Worth It:
#1 The Apron’s Durable Material
The first thing I noticed during my first Hedley & Bennett’s apron unboxing was the material. It is so thick and absolutely perfect for all day wear in the kitchen. Unlike other aprons made of linen or lightweight cotton, my clothes under the apron remained dry. And this is with me wiping my hands after washing pots and pans.
While these aprons aren’t technically waterproof, they stand up against water like a boss.
Hedley & Bennett aprons are made with pro-chefs in mind. And this is apparent by the commitment to such durable materials. They can stand up to the vast array of spices shared in this post “Do Spices Expire?”.
In addition to the chef-quality cotton and coated cotton, the straps are tough enough to be tied over and over again. The straps are long enough to fit every body comfortably.
And yes, the aprons wash well. The care instructions suggest air drying the aprons. I like to follow up the air dry with a light ironing.
#2 The Neck Straps Feel Like A Dream
One of my biggest pet peeves about other aprons are the neck strap placement. I hate when the straps do not lay flat or awkwardly bunch while wearing them. This can get even worse after washing them.
This often has to do with how the aprons are constructed from thin, easy to tangle material. Or, the straps are held together by loops that are hard to assemble perfectly.
The Hedley & Bennett aprons do not have to deal with any of this. They remain in their perfect position even through machine washing. They are also think enough to comfortably distribute the weight of the apron. You are not left with strap marks or chaffing after a long day.
I did not realize how important this was to me until I’d worn so many aprons that bothered me. I no longer have to worry about this using Hedley & Bennett aprons.
#3 The Pockets
A lot of aprons have pockets. Most of them aren’t great. The placement of the pockets are awkward and aren’t always the most functional.
But, Hedley & Bennett’s pockets are heavenly. The Carryall style has pockets large enough for a large phone, keys, my favorite food thermometer. Plus the stitching on the pockets is double stitched, so they are meant to last.
