Why I Decided To Switch To Organic Cotton Sheets (Featuring Whisper Organics)

 

 

 

Growing up, sheets were all the same to me. That was until company was coming over and my mother purchased new “fancy” sheets. They were usually smoother, softer, and on occasion be brighter in color since they were not used as often.

When I started purchasing my own sheets, I quickly learned how vast this world of bedding truly was and also that nice sheets shouldn’t only be saved for when company comes over. They should be used everyday.

 

 

I kept this in mind when I started purchasing my own sheets when I got older. I learned about thread count and types of materials that can enhance your sleeping experience. As I ventured into the natural and non-toxic world, I started to learn about different types of cotton used both in clothing and bedding and how cotton it is heavily sprayed with pesticides during farming. I then decided that I would make a conscious effort to transition my family’s bedding to these certified organic cotton for our new beds in our new home.

 

 

 

But this proved to be a bit more tricky than I thought. Some brands claim to be of higher quality but are lacking when felt against the skin. There are other brands that claim to be organic but may only be partially organic in construction.

This is why I was excited to come across the brand Whisper Organics. Not only does the line have a vast array of sheets to fit each bed size, they also have sheets for cribs which is perfect for my little one on the way.

 

 

What sets Whisper Organics apart from a lot of the rest is they are GOTS Certified. GOTS stands for Global Organic Textile Standard and is the worldwide leading textile processing standard for organic fibers. According to the GOTS website (Global-Standard.org), they are backed up by independent certification of the entire textile supply chain. This certification is something that is not found by many brands.

I couldn’t wait to receive our new bed so that I could get my new Whisper Organic sheet set on it. The 400 thread count seemed to be luxurious enough for everyday while remaining durable. And boy was I not disappointment.

 

The sheets proved to be all that I hoped for. They were smooth, soft, and beautiful on our new bed. In addition, they had this simple but amazing feature that I didn’t even knew I would love until I tried it.

The fitted sheets had an extended piece on the underside to ensure a taught fit on the mattress. It’s almost as if this extra fabric enabled the sheets to hug the mattress like no other sheets I’ve had thus far.

When I washed them, there was no shrinkage or pillage. I was and still am thoroughly impressed.
