This post was created in collaboration with Earth Mama Organics.
If there were a handful of brands I’ve truly become loyal to over the last 2 years, Earth Mama Organics would definitely be neck and neck with maybe one other at the tippy top of that list.
And just to build some context around this, I try TONS of products both for the blog and out of personal curiosity. No joke.
However, I LOVE Earth Mama Organics because their products are consistently top notch, made with high quality ingredients, natural/organic, and crafted with care. Their website fully explains their ingredients and even answers questions to help parents through real life incidents such as “What Happens If My Baby Eats The Diaper Balm?”, because things happen. Every single item I’ve tried from this brand has not disappointed. And I don’t say that about many, if not any, other brands.
So, when they reached out to check out their line of mineral sunscreens, I was beyond excited.
I’ve not always been a “sunscreen 24/7” person. In fact, there was a time in my very young adult life where I did not believe sunscreen was as important for me as I later realized it was. I was under the silly impression that it was not as essential for me due to my darker skin tone. Did I already mention how silly I was?
It wasn’t until a very long day walking around Disney World in a tube top when I realized I too can sunburn.
It was a painful but very useful lesson. Since then, I’ve always remembered to use sunscreen, especially when I knew I would be out and about.
My transition to more natural options made it temporarily tricky to find sunscreens I could trust to be effective, affordable, and accessible.
Earth Mama Organics’ line of sunscreens are all of these and then some.
Their new line of mineral sunscreens are made with moms like myself (dedicated to bringing wellness and healthier living into everyday real life), in mind.
The line includes a variety of SPF levels, sensitivities, methods of application, and UVA/UVB protection along with being pediatrician and dermatologist tested. All for less than $15 per bottle.
Four of the six formulations are made with kids in mind. All six offer 40 minute water resistance. The Uber-Sensitive Mineral Sunscreen’s formula was made with Colloidal Oatmeal making it great for even the most sensitive of skin.
My Personal Experience
I was excited to personally try them out, even though spring is barely making it’s appearance in my part of the country.
From my personal experience, I know mineral sunscreens are made to sit on the skin and NOT penetrate it. Because of that, mineral sunscreens often leave a white or gray cast on the skin.
When I tried these sunscreens on my skin, they rubbed on but not in much like I expected. However, I loved the light herbal scent and moisturizing formula. It went on nicely and left my skin feeling soft and hydrated even when wiped off. Once I allowed the sunscreens to warm up on my skin a bit, the cast was a bit less noticeable.
However, I’m not easily deterred by something like a temporary little discoloration in skin tone when it’s in the name of health and cleaner ingredients.
They did not irritate my nor my kids’ skin at all when tested. In full disclosure, my daughter, (11 months), has the most sensitive skin out of all of us, and she faired well when we tried it out.
Additionally, I’ve been much more mindful of the products I’ve used on my daughter from the start as opposed to with my son. I’m much more knowledgable this time around.
All in all, I love the line and the brand and highly recommend them if you’re in the market for sunscreens when the warmer weather starts to finally set in. I’m sure you will be hearing and seeing more of these products on my platforms over the summer.
