Living in NYC has it’s pros and cons. Admittedly, I get more wrapped up in the cons the older I get. The streets are seemingly louder, and I do all I can to stay away from the busier parts of the city because I’m not the party girl I used to be.
BUT, the one thing I can’t complain about is the abundance of great shows and activities for the family.
My family and I took advantage of this recently by finally going to see the Blue Man Group’s show. I’ve wanted to check them out for as long as I could remember. I was always curious to see what was behind these mysterious figures and what made their show so much fun.
From the moment the show started, I quickly found out.
This trio was so entertaining. They made the simplest of sketches and props hilarious. My son had never heard of the Blue Men before the show and (quite honestly) thought the show would be a bit scary. About halfway through the show, he told me he never knew blue painted men could be so much fun.
The absolute highlight of the show was when the Blue Men selected my mother to help them with one of their sketches on stage. I wanted to take so many pictures, but had to remind myself of the no picture or taping rule. My mother was so red and kind of freaked out, but she had a ball! It was good to see her being pulled out of her comfort zone for a change.
While I do not want to tell too much about the show because you should definitely go see it for yourself, I will tell you that it was PERFECT for the entire family. Whether you are 3 or 83, there’s a part of the show for you. The show was a great length, not too long, not too short with NO intermission. The end was ah-mazing!! The energy was out of this world and the Blue Men did an awesome job getting the entire audience involved.
I would absolutely recommend the Blue Man Group show to families. I can now see why they’ve been around for as long as they have. It was an experience we surely won’t forget. Thanks so much for having us!
