Great Times At The NYC Vegetarian Food Festival (May 20th-21st, 2017)

 

 

They say that NYC is the food capital of the world. I half-heartedly agreed with this saying mostly because I truly took having having all of these options for granted.

That is why making the decision to truly go plant based didn’t seem like such a big deal to me at first.

However, it wasn’t until a couple of weeks into my transition that I realized I was joining a group within the population that are choosing to go against the grain. And to be honest, it’s pretty awesome.

 

 

 

 

 

Imagine my excitement when I found out about the NYC Vegetarian Food Festival. My family and I couldn’t wait to go check it out and learn about new vegetarian and vegan eats.

 

 

The NYC Vegetarian Food Festival is in it’s 7th year and is one of the most highly anticipated plant based events in the area. It was created by Sarah Gross and Nira Paliwoda of the event production company U.S. Veg Corp. They also coordinate and launch the California Vegetarian Food Festival and Arizona Vegetarian Food Festival. Check out their events and company information at www.usvegcorp.com.

 

 

 

At the food festival, there were awesome speakers like Victoria Moran of MainStreetVegan.net (who I met at the pre-event press party and she was ah-mazing), Michelle McMacken, MD (who was also in the life changing movie What The Health which I reviewed HERE), and Robert Graham M.D. of Fresh Medicine at www.freshmednyc.com. All of them are advocates of a plant based lifestyle and love sharing information on it’s health and wellness benefits.

 

 

The festival also had tons of food and product vendors in line with the plant based lifestyle. As my first official event as a vegetarian, I felt like I was entering a whole new world…and I loved it!

U.S. Veg Corp did an amazing job on the festival and I can’t wait to attend next year. If you are slated to go to one of the upcoming food festivals, know that it will surely be a great time!
